Zouk originated in the Caribbean in the early 80s. It is fast tempo (120-145 bpm), dance music that utilises both modern and traditional instruments (eg, synthesizers, guitars and horns), in a rhythmic and melodic style. The most well known artists is Kassav' (sic).
