Sytnth-pop came about in the late 70s, with artists such as Gary Numan and Ultravox. The defining feature of synth-pop is its heavy usage of synthesizers, drum machines, and sequencers. Well-known synth-pop groups include Kraftwerk, Soft Cell, and Men Without Hats.
