Death Metal

Death metal is a subgenre of metal (who would have guessed) that was heavily influenced by thrash metal. It often uses heavily down-tuned and distorted guitars, and the lyrics are "bleak and often violent or anti-religious." Some examples of popular death metal artists include Death, Cryptopsy, and Immolation.
